convert power from 240V to 110v part 2
convert power from 240V to 110v?
I'm going to study in the US. How can I use my electrical/electronic appliances(especially laptops) that I bought in my home country(Malaysia) which uses 240v/50Hz, in the US?

Answer 1 :
Just use a 110 to 240 voltage converter. They are available many places. The link below leads to one such place. Just be sure to get a converter big enough, but not too big, for your needs. The 50 Hz/60 Hz frequency is not normally an issue.
Answer 2 :
Most laptop power supplies I've seen that use a separate cord that plugs into the power supply will automatically sense the input voltage and work correctly with either voltage without a converter. The 50/60 Hz frequency is not an issue with the power supplies I've seen. Most likely all you need to do is get the correct cord for your laptop power supply in the U. S. See the links below, though you should be able to get similar cords through other retail outlets that handle computers such as WalMart

Answer 1 :
you need to get a buck boost trans
Answer 2 :
May be some areas in US is provided with 110V, 50 Hz, I'm not sure, nevertheless, convertion from 220V to 110V is very simple. it is enough to get a 220/110V transformer. Frequency is another trouble. Check if your laptop can be fed with 50 Hz, if not, I think the best is to change the source, since the current sent from source to the computer is DC.
Answer 3 :
None of your equipment runs on AC as such. The 240/120 converters are a problem due to the fact we use 60Hz and it can burn up your 240/ 50Hz devices. It would be a better idea to just get a standard 120 v AC/DC device with the proper DC voltage output for what ever you are going to run on our electric. The same is true for 12v DC devices that can just be plugged into a car lighter socket. All you need is the right plug on the output side and the proper voltage and current ratings
